Travel : UNA Hill station

Una has been carved out of Hoshiarpur district of Punjab in 1966 where the hilly areas of Punjab were transferred to Himachal Pradesh and the whole area is warm. It has borders with Kangra Hamirpur and Bilaspur and then acts as a gateway to these regions. Surrounded by the banks of river Sutlej and Beas, the city of Una share borders with Kangra valley, Hamirpur and Bilaspur. In the present scenario, Una is considered as one of the literate cities of Himachal Pradesh . Especially during the month of February/March a large number tourists travel to Una to witness the famous Baba Bharbhag Singh fair, which is celebrated in the memory of Bharbhag Singh, a saint known for his magical power. Besides that tourists can visit the nearby market place called Jeevan market, from where famous woollen shawls and carpets can be purchased.

What to see :

CHINTPURNI TEMPLE : It is located on Dharamshala-Hoshiarpur road on a ridge.

BANGANA-LATHIAN-PIPLU : This area falls on the Una Barsar-Hamirpur road. Piplu is situated on the top of Sola Singh Dhar from where the view of Gobind-Sagar is fascinating. This area can attract tourist during winter season especially, when they propose to visit other religious places like Jogi Ponga and Naina Deviji.

DERA BABA BHARBHAG SINGH: The place has famous Gurudwara situated on the top of the hill and is surrounded by Ecyluptus trees. The Gurudwara Sarai apart from PWD Rest House is available for the night stay.


How to Reach:

Air - The nearest airport is at Chandigarh, which is 120 km away from Shimla that connects Una to all the major cities of Himachal Pradesh and India. From the airport, tourists can hire private taxi to reach Una city. Generally rates are fixed by the taxi union of the local region but still one can go for bargaining.

Rail - The nearest railway station is at Una, Tourists can hire private taxi or ride shared autos that frequently run between station and Una city.

Road- Una is well connected by road to major cities of Himachal Pradesh and India. State transport runs their deluxe as well as semi-deluxe buses from Shimla, Chandigarh and Pathankot to Una covering the distance of 240 km via Una - Chandigarh - Shimla. From the capital city of India, Delhi, Una is 375 km away.
